DWA in Shanghai

As various outlets report:

DreamWorks Animation and two state-owned Chinese media companies, Shanghai Media Group and China Media Capital, will unveil a landmark joint venture on Friday, the Financial Times reported.

The partners will construct a studio facility in Shanghai to develop film, TV and live stage productions for the Chinese market, according to the report. ...

Jeffrey K. and associates are branching out. T.V. 3-D. Now China.

All of which is fine with us, so long as they keep making features in Glendale.

So the Indian studio is not enough? They need another one in China?

Hey Homers,

Feel free to do a little research before jumping to uneducated conclusions/assumptions.

The China studio is a separate entity from Dreamworks proper here in America. It is NOT an extension of the US based studios, like the India studio is. Work is shared with the Indian studio, in an outsourcing type capacity. That same relationship will NOT be the case with the China studio. It is a separate company, specifically tasked with generating content for CHINA.

But it sure is fun to jump all over Dreamworks isn't it? Boy oh boy, that knee jerk hater reaction sure didn't get old 8 years ago did it.

Keep believing that. Give it a couple years. Dumb ass.

If you honestly believe for one moment that Dreamworks setting up shop in Shanghai of all places is actually a good thing... Than you deserve to be out of work. Dont be surprised when it happens, ok "Homer"?

"As long as they keep making features in Glendale"... Good luck with that. As long as you've got Production geniuses like Joe Aguilar and Ann Daley running the show there in Glendale.....more and more work will be sent overseas.

Are you really that naive to think Shanghai is a good thing?
Its the freaking city name that gave us the term, "Getting Shanghai'd" for Christ's sake.

Wake up.

With profits at Dreamworks down, it's not naive to believe that someday in the near future, Chinese workers will be doing a number of the jobs that are currently being done in Glendale. Why wouldn't Jeffrey tap that cheap labor resource? Go green!

There is not a studio exec anywhere in town that would not have sold their grandmothers into slavery to make this deal.

Just when I think I cant lose any more respect for Dreamworks and Katzenburg.... They find new ways to break ground, and my loss is furthered.

Really impressive.
